Introduction:
Round Harbour is a small community located on the Baie Verte Peninsula 11 km off route 414. It was always a fishing settlement with a population from about 50 - 150. In the late 1800's indications of copper ore were discovered in the vicinity, but there proved to be insufficient ore to warrant mining operations.
Artists from all over the world come to this unique community to paint the beautiful scenery.
Fishery Industry
Since the shutdown of the fishery, only four families are still living in Round Harbour. Two of these are families are on the TAGS program.
Other Income Sources
The families in the community, which are not dependent on the TAGS program for income, are one works with NF and Labrador Hydro and the other is retired.
The nearest business facilities are La Scie and Baie Verte.
Housing
There are twenty-two houses in Round Harbour, four are occupied year around and eighteen are unoccupied but used in the summer as cottages.
Education
There are no schools in Round Harbour, all students are bussed to La Scie.

There is a rural mail box service in Round Harbour with daily mail delivery. The nearest post office is in La Scie.
Media Data
The local newspaper "Nor'wester" is delivered once a week.
Health & Welfare
The nearest medical facility is in LaScie, which is a Health clinic with one doctor on staff.
Fire Protection
There is no form of fire protection in Round Harbour. The nearest Fire Department is in Brent's Cove, 8 km away or La Scie which is approximately fourteen km from the community. They will respond to any fire calls.

Round Harbour has about 11 km of gravel road which is in fair condition most of the time. There are no new roads under construction, and no new roads are planned within the next five years. The Department of Works, Service and Transportation takes care of the road maintenance in the community

The nearest scheduled stop for CN road cruisers is at the Trans Canada Highway approximately 110 km away.
The nearest wholesale suppliers are located in Springdale and Lewisporte, and the nearest shopping centre is La Scie.

Residents of Round Harbour depend on private water supply system and no attempts have been made to have a main system installed. There is no garbage collection in the community. Each individual takes care of their own garbage disposal. The four homes which are occupied have private septic tanks.
