Introduction:
The community of Woodstock is located on the Northeast side of the Baie Verte peninsula, off route 414 on route 417. It shares an access road with the community of Pacquet. Woodstock is a beautiful setting place for site seeing. It has a playground for the children and beautiful seashore, which is mainly sandy with large flat rocks. If you look across the harbour you can see the lighthouse situated on a Cliffside. You can also see whales and ice bergs in the right season.

The town has 199 people.
Local History:
Woodstock was first settled in the late 1800's and it was known as Southwest Pacquet. In 1911, the name was changed to Woodstock when the first post office was opened by George Packwood. The early settlers were loggers, although a few fished in Charlie’s Cove. Many of the early settlers came from Conception Bay to mine.
In winter, they hunted seals and in summer, they took cod off Woodstock. Gooseberry Cove was settled in the mid 1800's to 1950's and had a waterwheel and sawmill. The timber was shipped by schooner. The early settlers encouraged people from England, Scotland and Ireland to settle on the Baie Verte Peninsula. Logging became a way of life in 1912.
Tourism, Recreation & Crafts
Woodstock has set up a recreation committee which is mainly involved in public recreation, although, it does not have a paid coordinator.
The residents of Woodstock have a playground, track and field and soccer which is entertainment for both the children and adults. Business meeting and public meetings are held at the town council building. As well, a Rock Climb Walking Trail, swimming hole, and fishing rivers, are located in Woodstock.
Fishery Industry
There are sixty five fishermen/women in the community who consist of nineteen full-time and forty six part-time.
Forestry Industry
There are four sawmill operators in Woodstock at the present time. All four operators hold a commercial sawmill license.
Housing
There are one hundred and two houses in Woodstock with four unoccupied.
Education
Deckwood Elementary is the only school in Woodstock with an enrolment of fifty-seven students.
Postal Service
There is a small post office in Woodstock which employs two people.
Media Data
The only forms of media data in the community is the circulation of the Nor'wester newspaper, CBC Television, and VOCM Radio.
Health & Welfare
There is a hospital 20 kilometers away in Baie Verte which is services the community.
Fire Protection
Woodstock has a volunteer Fire Department with twenty-four members and is a branch of the local government.

Woodstock has a town water supply which is approximately two miles from the community. The only form of protection for the supply is it is buried beneath the ground. All the homes in the community is connected to this water supply system and it is chlorine treated.
The water supply is inspected every six months by the authorities. There are problems with freeze-ups in winter, but no problems with dry-ups in summer. This water supply system was constructed by Municipal Affairs and the Community Council.
The community has garbage collection. It is contracted out to a local person and collected once per week. The dump is the method of use and it is located two and a half miles outside the community, it now has an incinerator in operation. The dump is supervised by the authorities.
Social & Cultural Data
There are three churches located in town.
The Salvation Army was established in 1959. It has a weekly attendance of fifty people, with services held twice a week. The congregation has decreased over the years due to the decrease in population. The church also is involved in a number of groups such as: men's clubs, women's clubs, youth clubs and sponsored groups.
The Faith United church is also located in Woodstock with twenty-one families in the congregation, which has changed in the last few years. This church holds one service per week, this is due to the minister having to serve at two other churches. The United Church is involved in men's club, bible groups, and women's groups.
The United Pentecostal Church has also been established in the community in 1968. There are approximately 35 people in the congregation. Services are held three times a week.
